De La Salle Day 2026: Celebrating Our Lasallian Heritage

St. Benedict's College proudly celebrated De La Salle Day 2026, a special occasion dedicated to honoring the life, vision, and enduring legacy of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, the Patron Saint of Teachers and Founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (De La Salle Brothers). The College has been entrusted to the care of the De La Salle Brothers since 1868, continuing a rich tradition of Lasallian education rooted in faith, service, and excellence.

The celebration brought together the Benedictine community in a spirit of prayer, gratitude, and fraternity. Students, staff, Old Benedictines, and members of the De La Salle Brothers reflected on the values that continue to shape the identity of the College—faith in God's presence, concern for the poor and social justice, respect for all persons, quality education, inclusive community, and commitment to service. These timeless Lasallian principles remain at the heart of Benedictine life and education.

The day commenced with a solemn Eucharistic Celebration, followed by a series of meaningful activities that highlighted the Lasallian mission. Students actively participated in religious observances, educational programs, and creative initiatives that encouraged them to deepen their understanding of Saint John Baptist de La Salle's vision of transforming lives through education and compassion.

One of the highlights of this year's celebration was the continued emphasis on living the Lasallian charism in today's world. Through reflection, collaboration, and acts of service, students were reminded that every Benedictine is called to become a leader who serves with humility, integrity, and commitment to others.
